Deep navy jacket from Roberto Menichetti’s eponymous line. A fusion of high-end 00s indie, Italian artisanal manufacturing and tech fabrics. It’s a peculiar combination of vibes that could only come from this designer. The jacket is designed to give the tight fitted feel of a blazer with the durability of a biking jacket. The outer is a dense nylon, almost taking on the rigidity of a ballistic weave, with some signature stretch. Inside is a smooth cotton/nylon. As always, there is considerable attention to detail . Signature aspects of the Menichetti atelier such as fabric matched zip tabs and hand stitched finishing are present. A rarity for the brand is the use of heavy-duty RiRi zippers on the exterior. It uses the signature collar for the brand’s menswear offering. This unique shape is halfway between a shirt collar and the notched lapel of a blazer or formal jacket. It can be worn down or popped if you really wish to tap into the mid 00s metrosexual look. There are several variants of the jacket. Some have more complex panelling and colour blocking. This version of the jacket was worn by actor Adrian Brody in Men’s Health magazine. The fabric and design of the jacket preempts the launch of the Menichetti Equipment line - a techier offering launched in 2006.
